"I just thought you should know," said my mom's recorded voice in my voicemail, "that Nicolas Cage is filing for divorce from what's-her-name, that wacko." Her spirited tone grew more confidential, "I just thought you should know."
I also got an email from Hub, forwarding the CNN news story about the break-up, due to irreconcilable differences. Hub's attached note said, "Is that better?"
It's like my friends and family really do think I should call up Nicolas and say, "SO, now that THAT'S out of your system, be a good boy and come on over here and sit on momma's lap. Have some meatballs, I made them fresh."
